Cole Stroll: Best of Defenders Minicamp
The first-ever DC Defenders XFL minicamp is in the books.
After three weeks of training, learning and practice, the initial 70-man roster will be trimmed down as the players head home for the holidays and as the team prepares for XFL training camp in Houston, Texas.
Defenders minicamp was a learning experience for everyone involved. But one of the best parts of the three-week camp at the University of Maryland was being able to get to learn more about the players you will be cheering for come Feb. 8, when the 2020 XFL season begins at Audi Field for Week 1 vs. Seattle Dragons.
We decided to take a walk with some of our new players in and around Cole Field House to provide you some insight into the lives of the DC Defenders.
The Cole Stroll at Minicamp
Ep. 1: WR Eli Rogers
The speedy former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver gets things started with a look into his past to discuss his favorite moments and what he likes the most about being a wideout.
We expect big things from Rogers this season, which is why we're leading off with him.
Ep. 2: WR Deion Holliman
The former Missouri State wideout is famous for his viral box-jumping video:
In the Stroll, he explains why he hates black beans; why he's funnier than quarterback Cardale Jones; and his favorite nickname.
Ep. 3: SAF Matt Elam
The former first-round pick is a thumper.
Known for his endless energy and penchant for big hits, the former Florida Gator loves to dance, his new teammates, and a very special cheat-day meal.
Ep. 4: DT Tracy Sprinkle
The defensive line gets some love in Episode 4 of the Cole Stroll.
Sprinkle, a national champion at Ohio State University, explains who the funniest D-lineman is; reveals what it's like to play with his former Buckeye teammates; and gives a tutorial on how to do his signature sack dance.
Ep. 5: OT Cole Boozer
It's only fitting that we chose a player named Cole to participate in the Cole Stroll.
Boozer is a Maryland native but spent enough time in Philadelphia to dish on his favorite cheesesteak place. He also touches on the best movie he saw in 2019 and his favorite bowl memory, all in the presence of fellow lineman Logan Tuley-Tillman.
Ep. 6: XFL Commissioner Oliver Luck
With the XFL commissioner in town to host a "Chalk Talk" with Defenders fans, we thought it would be fun to get to know the man leading the charge.
Commissioner Luck is excited for the opportunity to have football in Washington, D.C., and is a big fan of Audi Field. He has fond memories of Joe Namath and will never be able to forget playing against the likes of Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor.
Ep. 7: LB Jesse Aniebonam
We couldn't do a Cole Stroll without getting a former Maryland Terrapin to talk to us about what College Park means to him.
The Silver Spring, Md., native brought his defensive pals Sam Montgomery and KeShun Freeman along for the interview and gave Freeman some love for being extra funny.
He also dished on his least favorite food; his favorite athlete growing up; and what advice he received from his cousin Osi Umenyiora.
Ep. 8: OG Logan Tuley-Tillman
The well-traveled offensive lineman is one of the biggest players on the team. He also has one of the biggest hearts and personalities.
He's joined by some special fans after the Defenders' open practice; Tuley-Tillman talks about his favorite superhero and superpowers and what it's like to give back.
Ep. 9: LB KeShun Freeman
Trying to find a nicer human being on the roster than Freeman is a tall order.
The former Georgia Tech star is loaded with charisma and always has a smile on his face.
He got into the holiday spirit to discuss his least favorite food, and the actor who would play him in a movie about his life.
