Houston QB P.J. Walker (11) celebrates after his touchdown throw and three-point conversion run during the first quarter in Week 4 against Dallas.

Houston Roughnecks at Dallas Renegades

Sunday marks the debut of the XFL's Texas Throwdown. The Houston Roughnecks (3-0) visit the Dallas Renegades (2-1) at Arlington's Globe Life Park for the first of these two West clashes of the 2020 season.

Houston's P.J. Walker and Cam Phillips came into Week 4 as the leading passer (748 yards) and receiver (324, seven touchdowns), respectively.

Dallas' offense has awakened, though, in the two weeks with Landry Jones under center (289.5 passing yards per game). In that same window, Renegades tight end Donald Parham has averaged 88.5 receiving yards and totaled three touchdowns, while running back Cameron Artis-Payne has averaged 120.5 yards from scrimmage.

4th Qtr: )ut of thin air

Flynn Nagel bobbled a throw near the goal line from Philip Nelson -- and linebacker DeMarquis Gates snags it out of the air for an interception.

1:57 left, Roughnecks still up 27-20.

And that's how it finishes.

4th Qtr: Injury update

After a QB sneak for a fourth-down conversion, Landry Jones was helped off the field due to an apparent injury to his left leg.

Philip Nelson is in at quarterback.

4th Qtr: Strip, Sack & Scoop

Landry Jones lost it on strip, sack and scoop from linebacker Edmond Robinson, who took it into the end zone on the fourth takeaway of the day.

P.J. Walker's two-point pass was batted to the ground at the line of scrimmage.

27-20 Houston early in the fourth quarter.

3rd Qtr: Landry answers

Landry Jones finds Renegades receivers Donald Parham, Flynn Nagel (33-yarder) and Lance Dunbar with the capper on a TD grab.

Jones then feeds a low throw that's pulled in on a stellar effort by Nagel for a three-pointer.

Houston 21, Dallas 20 as the third quarter nears its end.

3rd Qtr: Walker takes over

Irked by that pick, P.J. Walker delivers a smashing shoulder to cornerback Donatello Brown

Then he finds Nick Holley for 21 yards.

A few plays later, he delivers a TD to the corner of the end zone to Blake Jackson.

A failed Walker three-point conversion attempt leaves this at 21-11 Roughnecks.

3rd Qtr: Walker stopped

Dallas recorded just the second interception against P.J. Walker this season and just his first since Week 1.

Check out the jump by safety Derron Smith.

Renegade had this route made.

15-11 Houston heading into this Dallas drive

2nd Qtr: Almost Something

A 60-yard field goal attempt from Roughnecks PK Sergio Castillo fell way wide-right, then was returned by Dallas safety Derron Smith toward midfield.

Sorry, no Kick-6 here, but this one's getting interesting through two quarters.

Halftime: 15-11 Roughnecks

2nd Qtr: Stone Cold Austin MacGinnis

Renegades kicker Austin MacGinnis is 8-for-8 on field goals this year.

He splits the uprights from 46 yards out with less than a minute left in the first half.

15-11 Roughnecks

2nd Qtr: Double Dip

A successful fourth-down conversion leads to a 12-yard connection from Landry Jones to Donald Parham, who stretched out to just barely put the ball on the goal line for a TD.

Parham followed up with a two-point catch in the back of the end zone.

15-8 Roughnecks, but Dallas is clawing back.

2nd Qtr: Holley Jolly Touchdown

P.J. Walker punches in a touchdown off an interception, finding Nick Holley on a six-yard slant over the middle. Holley shouts out to his folks afterward.

Walker then scrambles in to notch a successful three-point conversion.

15-0 Roughnecks as they start to more emphatically punish Dallas for their mistakes.

1st Qtr: 3 is the magic number

Landry Jones throws his third interception of the game -- straight into the arms of Deatrick Nichols, for his second of the contest.

The first stanza ends at 6-0 Houston.

1st Qtr: PICK 2

Add the sixth interception to Landry Jones' season-long total.

Cornerback Deatrick Nichols picks up this rifle that deflected off a receiver's hands.

This led to Sergio Castillo's second field goal of the game, this time from 30 yards out.

6-0 Roughnecks

Dallas established the backfield game with several big gains on their first drive, but Landry Jones was intercepted by Houston safety Cody Brown

The ensuing drive ends with a 37-yard field goal from Sergio Castillo.

The result of the Renegades' opening drive of each game this year: punt, punt, punt, and interception.

The Roughnecks are on Dallas' locker-room walls -- and perhaps in their heads?

Renegades head coach Bob Stoops rallies the gang before kickoff.
