Defenders TE Khari Lee agrees to deal with Falcons
DC Defenders tight end Khari Lee agreed to a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons, the NFL team announced Wednesday.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound native of Baltimore, Md., was a sixth-round selection by the Defenders in October's 2020 XFL Draft. Lee attended Baltimore Tech High School before a standout four-year career at Bowie State.
He started all five games for the Defenders, recording eight catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
Lee's most notable moment of the 2020 XFL season came in the third quarter of Week 1 against the Seattle Dragons, when he was on the receiving end of a 39-yard, double-flea-flicker touchdown pass from Cardale Jones that included running back Donnel Pumphrey and wide receiver Eli Rogers.
The result was the first offensive touchdown in Defenders history:
The 28-year old Lee returns to the NFL having previously spent time with the Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills prior to the 2020 XFL season.
