Inside Vipers minicamp: Day 6
PLANT CITY, Fla. -- The Vipers welcomed a special guest today.
Well, it's probably wrong to call him a "guest" given that he's the commissioner of the XFL. Oliver Luck stopped by the team's facility today to meet the Vipers and get a first-hand look at practice.
"You guys are a part of history," Luck said while all the players, coaches and staff huddled in the team meeting room. "I am certainly pumped up about the opportunity you all have. We're a league of opportunity."
Luck elaborated on why that opportunity is so special, taking time to discuss the deep experience of the coaching staff, the wide reach of the league's broadcast partners, and the impeccable quality of the team's facility here in Plant City. He also took the time to thank Mayor Rick Lott and Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan, who were in attendance.
The commissioner ended his message by telling the players to "play hard ... enjoy yourself ... love your teammates ... and most importantly, have fun."
After the meeting, Luck walked out to the field to watch drills. Here are some on-the-field photo highlights from that session:
Finally, we've seen some receivers make some amazing catches in practice, but today, the best snag might've belonged to a QB.
Nice catch, Vincent!
That's all from here. We'll be back tomorrow with the latest updates from minicamp.
