Minicamp Recap: New York Guardians
MAHWAH, N.J. -- The New York Guardians' first minicamp is now complete.
After practices in New Jersey and West Point, N.Y., the team will now break for the holidays and report to training in camp in Houston, Texas, in early January.
Now that its over, here are some of the highlights from camp.
QB1 leading the way
Matt McGloin, the former Penn State quarterback, looked sharp throughout minicamp. His decision-making and poise in the pocket were on full display.
Loaded at wideout
The wide receiver group is the most physically impressive position on the team. They have size, speed, length and experience, and the competition for starting spots in training camp will be worth watching.
DeAngelo Yancey is a physical specimen and should be able to muscle smaller defensive backs. Demarcus Ayers should be great in the slot, and Mekale McKay offers size and speed.
Safety A.J. Hendy was an absolute ballhawk during minicamp. Can he carry it over into training camp?
Meanwhile, the rest of the secondary looks strong for the Guardians heading into Houston.
The team also practiced at West Point, N.Y., where they took they got to meet fans and take in some of the history of being on Army's campus.
