Wildcats Training Camp: Day 2
HOUSTON -- For the first time in franchise history, the Los Angeles Wildcats put on their pads.
Then, the fellas came out to play.
Monday's second practice during the warm day in January capped off an active afternoon with plenty of excitement -- and friendly trash talk -- among the Wildcats.
Overall, the players were pleased with their effort but know plenty of work lies ahead.
"We're just taking it day by day and trying to get better as an offense," wide receiver Adonis Jennings.
When the pads come out, you know the linebackers are happy.
"Practice went really well. I haven't strapped on pads in (a while) so just being back out there, just hitting people, made the whole day just really exciting," said linebacker Taiwan Jones.
De'Quan Hampton, who played wide receiver during his time at USC, is making the transition to tight end and is a big fan of the extra bulk.
"I got pads on that really (help) use my speed and explosiveness to get that 'thump' so it helps me," said Hampton, a native of Carson.

First up was quarterback Luis Perez.
