Wildcats officially open practice in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The Wildcats can now say they are someplace they haven't yet been: home sweet home.
The squad took to the practice field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Long Beach on Monday, marking the franchise's first official action as a 52-man team in the Los Angeles area.
Receiver Jalen Greene, a native of Inglewood and graduate of Serra High School, felt right at home and is eager to bring victories to Los Angeles.
"Hopefully we can bring another championship to LA in a difrerent sport, with the XFL. I just hope we can do our part to be one of those teams that's remembered in LA," Greene said.
Linebacker Anthony Johnson said Los Angeles was a welcomed sight after a successful training camp in Houston.
"Excited to be in the Carson area, working in the Long Beach area," Johnson said. "Excited to bring some wins here. Got some good weather ... get the fans in the stands and everything's going to be good."
The team opens its season Feb. 8 at the Houston Roughnecks.
