Roughnecks Training Camp: Day 13
HOUSTON -- The team spent the majority of practice today working on 7 on 7 drills as they head into their Joint practic with the LA Wildcats tomorrow. With a normal practice consisting of a wide variety of different drills, today stood out as a walkthrough to prepare the team for a game scenario.
“Looking forward to the scrimmage against LA tomorrow, it’ll give us a chance to try out a few things we’ve been working on,” HC June Jones.
Getting Better Every Day
Even with all the different ways practice has been held over minicamp, and now training camp, the coaching staff always makes sure they spend time working on special teams. Considering all the different rule changes that the XFL brings to that facet of the game, it’s no surprise that the team has placed high importance on special teams.
“We’re a long way from where we want to be, but we’re closer than where we were yesterday,” said coach Dennis McKnight.
This attention to detail is apparent not only on the practice field, but in the film room as well - the team spent considerable time today breaking down and studying the practice film. The coaches are determined to really enforce consistency when it comes to punts, kickoffs, and field goals.
