Inside BattleHawks minicamp: Day 5

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The BattleHawks got to work over the weekend as they were finally able to get their hands on some balls and put into practice everything they have been hearing from the coaching staff so far. The guys are happy to be back on the field and playing the game they love.

With almost a week under their belts, the coaching staff has is thrilled with how well the team has come together so far.

"It's still early, but the chemistry the guys are developing already. The offensive line stands out to me," said Director of Player Personnel Trey Brown. "They travel together, they come in and out of the facility together. They're showing some great things with how they're bonding, Matt McCants, Brian Folkerts, those veteran guys are really helping to bring up the younger guys like Dejon Allen and Jake Campos. Those guys are getting to see those veteran players lead the charge and they're right along with them."

Leadership is always important and Brown said that on the defensive side of the ball, Will Hill has emerged as a voice in the locker room.

"We were all excited to get him," Brown said. "He's stepped in and been an excellent leader and teammate. He's dominating on how he's approaching mini camp thus far."

With three high quality QBs on the roster, competition has been fierce, but the guys have really come together as teammates and Brown made it clear that they couldn't be happier to have all three.

"What a great problem to have; we have three great guys," Brown said. "You don't want to get in a situation where you're too reliant on one guy and something happens. You can win with all three of these guys. One thing that stands out is how efficient they've been in this process, how quickly they've picked up things. We're lucky to have all three of them."

And from a coaching standpoint, the staff is focused on teaching, evaluating and just improving.

"You want to get better each and every day. I'm always evaluating," Brown said. "We're watching everything. These guys are all professionals, they know the drill. We're watching tape every day and we're seeing a lot of growth in every single rep. We're heading in the right direction and starting to build a championship."

NFl Commissioner Oliver Luck stopped by the facility to address the team and meet some fellow QBs.

Oh, and Marquette King had the play of the day...
