Guardians Training Camp: Day 13

HOUSTON -- In the first trade for the franchise, the New York Guardians shipped wide receiver Taivon Jacobs to the Houston Roughnecks for wide receiver Joe Horn Jr.

Horn Jr., 24, played college football at Division II Missouri Western State and he is the son of Joe Horn, a former NFL wide receiver who made four Pro Bowls with the New Orleans Saints. The elder Horn is probably most famous for pulling out a cell phone during at touchdown celebration against the New York Giants in 2003.

Although Horn Jr. played at a smaller school, he is ready for the rigors of the XFL and his new teammates.

“It was an amazing vibe at practice today,” said Horn Jr.  “We the same kind of the same system as my former team. It was just amazing to be around new players and a new team.”

Horn Jr.  caught a few balls on this first day of practice and is quickly starting to jell in his new environment. He joked with players and is comfortable being with the Guardians.

“I love this black and grey uniform, and it makes me feel like I am wanted and that I belong.”
