Guardians Training Camp: Day 10

HOUSTON – The New York Guardians practiced at the University of Houston Cougar indoor football facility due to the wet weather that has been rolling through Houston.

WIDEOUTS LOOK STRONG

The Guardian wide receivers looked strong today. This group is starting to “jell” at the midway point of training camp. There is a good mix of size, speed and strength within the core.

“I think the progress the group is making is really good," said Guardians wide receiver coach Mike Miller. “They are applying themselves mentally and I see progress in every guy.”

In today’s 7-on-7 drills, the wide receivers shined. Justice Liggins, Andrew Verboys and Teo Redding all caught deep balls today on the Guardian secondary. Redding is having a really strong camp.

However, Coach Miller expects more from the group.

“I thought the group’s performance in the first scrimmage was good. As a coach, you always see things you want to get better on and improve.”

“These guys were aggressive during the scrimmage and I thought they were pretty good with their assignments.”

HOUSTON HOMECOMING

Tuesday’s workout was a homecoming for Guardian defensive lineman Joey Mbu and linebacker D’Juan Hines.

The former Houston Cougars took some time out of practice to shout the Coog’ fans!

Tommorrow, the Guardians will hold a joint practice with the DC Defenders.
