Around the XFL: Training Camp, Day 9

HOUSTON -- Following a Sunday breather that served as a cool-down from Saturday's joint practices, XFL squads returned to work Monday -- and the conditions outside certainly made it feel like a Monday.

Taking sides

XFL players who went to school at LSU and Clemson talked smack ahead of Monday's college football national championship.

Guardians cornerback Terrence Alexander's Bayou-dripping shoes were among the shots fired.

Swap meet

Two trades happened since our last gathering that resulted in four wide receivers changing unis:

  • On Sunday, the Wildcats traded Rashad Ross to the Defenders for Tre McBride.
  • The second deal, announced Monday, saw the Vipers acquire wideout Stacy Coley from the Renegades for Freddie Martino.

Make it Rain

Houston offered more unrelenting weather, moving some teams indoors and testing others' traction on ran-slicked fields.


    The Wildcats appeared a bit agitated with cabin fever and took out their madness on each other:


    As beautiful as this design is, BattleHawks defensive back Harold Jones-Quartey hopes he'll register plenty of takeaways so we'll struggle to read his gloves during games:

    Cut back to more hands, but from the opposite end of the line of scrimmage. The Vipers' Tanner McEvoy and Jalen Tolliver showed their ups:

    Defenders Assemble

    To end this one, the Defenders forged a piece of armor for the 2020 season, with some inspiration from Captain America:

    Probably could make a solid umbrella, too.
