Around the XFL: Honoring Veterans

On Veterans Day, the XFL world honored its military connections. Late last week, the Los Angeles Wildcats got their home city's spotlight.

  • Wildcats quarterback Luis Perez stopped by ESPN Radio 710 AM LA on Friday to introduce himself to local LA college legend Keyshawn Johnson and the rest of the crew at Mornings with Keyshawn, LZ and Travis. Listen to the bowling sensation explain how he learned to become a football player, his budding relationship with his offensive coordinator, the football scene in the City of Angels, and much more. (Listen at 13:57-24:01.)

  • The San Diego native also chatted with Spanish station Noticiero 52 about how the XFL will set itself apart from the NFL.

  • More LA love: Perez’s offensive coordinator, longtime quarterback guru Norm Chow, hosted a workout with some skill players at a local LA high school to familiarize them with the system and each other. Chow said early training is one of the first few steps to help the Wildcats find out whether they’re a running team or a throwing team.

The XFL squads paid tribute to veterans on Veterans Day.

The DC Defenders shared the story of wide receiver Tre McBride’s family background in the armed forces.

Dallas Renegades QB Landry Jones passed along well-wishes to his brother-in-law and all other vets.

The St. Louis BattleHawks were welcomed during a visit to their local Veterans Affairs department:
