NEED TO KNOW
GUARDIANS
Benched a week ago after an erratic start and heated halftime interview, QB Matt McGloin is sitting in the crosshairs. A bounce-back showing on the road by McGloin, who’s expected to start, would calm the waters.
New York has only allowed three touchdowns, tied for the fewest in the league. S Wesley Sutton is tied for XFL lead with two sacks, while DE Bunmi Rotimi and S A.J. Hendy are among the leaders in solo tackles with 10 apiece.
BATTLEHAWKS
The return of football has St. Louis buzzing. The BattleHawks are counting on a large and rowdy crowd for the home debut at The Dome. The 1-1 road split in Texas was promising, but head coach Jonathan Hayes sees plenty to clean up. Despite scoring six touchdowns – good for third in the league – St. Louis has yet to make a conversion.
Dual-threat QB Jordan Ta’amu is second in passing yards (493) and third in rushing yards (109).
RB Matt Jones has a league-high 129 yards rushing.
