NEED TO KNOW

GUARDIANS

The Guardians walloped Tampa Bay 23-3 in their opener, tying the Houston Roughnecks for the largest margin of victory in Week 1. QB Matt McGloin accounted for two touchdowns, and the defense got into the act on CB Jamar Summers’ scoop-and-score.

New York lost the yardage and time-of-possession battles -- but more than made up for it with a 3-0 turnover advantage.

The Guardians need to do better than 2.8 yards per rush, however, with first place in the East on the line.

DEFENDERS

QB Cardale Jones graded out as the best at his position in Week 1 (Pro Football Focus), passing for 235 yards and two TDs in the Defenders’ 31-19 win over Seattle. WR Eli Rogers proved unguardable, catching six balls on six targets for 73 yards. WR Rashad Ross added 52 yards and a score.

DC’s defense allowed only 4.8 yards per play and helped post a 3-0 edge in turnovers, including two Pick-6's.
